Junk Food


This is age of the developing world. In today's age, lifestyle of people is improved. In this developing world, people can afford food in adaquate quantity and quality.  But people are preferring easy made and ready to eat food. Despite of all these things people prefer that food which can satisfy  their taste buds.Mostly people like the tasty food overloaded with spice , salt and crunchiness. Children love this mouthwatering food. Such food arises the concept of "junk food".This junk food is similar to junk as it is of no use for body rather it causes great to our body.

Junk food often referred to the type of food which is very less in nutrition value and high in fats, sugar and salt content. Therefore it is referred as HFSS food (high in fats, sugar and salt content).   Junk food highly processed food lacking in nutrients.(e.g. Vitamins, minerals, fibres, etc.) Various examples of junk food are hamburgers, pizza, french fries and many soft drinks containing sugar water,etc.


 Popularity in people and   marketing

  Junk food is very popular among the people around the world. Many people get attracted to junk food due to its mouthwatering taste and appearance. There are many junk food manufacturer which spend billions of dollars on research and development to add attractive flavours in junk food to attract more people to eat junk food. Mostly children are attracted to junk food and therefore marketers develop new strategies to attract them. Not only children but people of all age group get attracted to such type of food which proves to be profitable for junk food industry.

  Nowadays, it has become the part of a culture of people living in in urban or Suburban areas any country. America celebrates annual national "Junk Food Day"on July 21. Social media platform please major role in the marketing of junk food.

 How does it affects our health?

Consumption of junk food causes intake of excess fat, simple carbohydrates and processed sugar in our body which may cause increase in danger of obesity, cardiovascular diseases and many other chronic health conditions. Studies revealed that at age of 30 chances of heart attack has increased by clogging of arteries due to over consumption of junk food. People eating more junk food consume very less healthy food such as salad and other  nutrition food like vegetables and fruits.

      A Scripps Research Institute study in 2008 suggests that,"Junk food consumption changes been activity similar to addictive drugs like cocaine and heroine."people get addicted for consumption of junk food.

     Consumption of junk food during pregnancy can increase chances of unhealthy eating habits in there child. Sugary food like soft drink can affect emotional health and energy levels in human beings.

Junk food also has adverse effect on human digestive system. It also increases cholesterol level in body which results into obesity. It causes acidity, indigestion and various  gastrointestinal diseases. It also causes major diseases like blood pressure, hypertension, diabetes. 
 So the consumption of junk food can be much harmful to our body.

  Recommendations regarding consumption of junk food


  1. Junk food should be avoided as much as possible.
  2. Do not consume food made up of white bread which may form bikes in blood.
  3. Avoid food containing high fats, salts and food lacking in nutrition value.
  4. Soft drinks having high amount of processed sugar should be avoided.
  5. Start a good habit of eating food which includes plenty of vegetables, fruits, and salad, etc.
  6. When she would prefer water and homemade fruit juices than soft drinks available in market.


   
Simply eat healthy and stay away from junk food.
